In this house, named Haus Metternich or Metternicher Hof, the statesman
Klemens Wenzel Lothar von Metternich was born in the year 1773.
Silent-Night-Museum
In August 2006, I went to the Silent-Night-Museum
which primarily deals with the composer of the famous Christmas carol.
Celtic Museum
At the Celtic Museum
in Hallein I learned a lot about the history of the Celts
and the salt mines in the region of Salzburg.
Lindworm
Fountain
The Lindworm Fountain is the landmark of
Klagenfurt, the capital of the Austrian province Carinthia.
From my point of view it seems to be the lindworm is
drivelling a little bit seeing the Hercules in front of him.
Frauenburg Castle
The castle was first mentioned in 13th
century and is told as one of the most favourite homes of
minnesinger Ulrich von Liechtenstein.
Lebenberg Castle
During a guided tour at Lebenberg castle in South Tyrol I
heard a cruel story about a man who was buried alive in the
walls. A rood still marks the place where his skeleton was
found many years ago.
Golden roof
The landmark of Innsbruck was used as royal box by Holy Roman Emperor
Maximilian I. Because of its fire-gilded copper tiles it is called
'Goldenes Dachl' (golden roof) in German.
Benrath Palace
View on the rear side of Benrath Palace which was built in the years 1755 to
1773. In the foreground you can see a pond of 450 meters.
Bruck Castle
Bruck Castle was build by the counts of Görz.
During my visit I enjoyed an interesting gallery with works of Albin
Egger-Lienz.
Herrenchiemsee Palace
The photo shows the unfinished palace, which is placed on an island in the
Bavarian lake Chiemsee.
Goliathhaus
A residence tower in Regensburg with an interesting decoration showing the
legend of David and Goliath.
Donaustauf Castle Ruin
Donaustauf Castle Ruin is a place high over the river
Danube in Bavaria with a good view to the Walhalla.
