32,000 Reasons not to Attack Graz
In August 2007 I visited the armoury of Graz which is famous for its
large collection of weaponry and armour intended for a defensive army
against Ottoman and Hungarian troops.
Saalburg
It was in the 19th century the ruins of a former Roman fort in Hesse
(Germany) got reconstructed. In August 2007 I walked through the
halls,
granaries and homes of the Roman legionnaires.
Skyline of Frankfurt
Standing on a bridge next to the
Museum of Icons I took this photo of Frankfurt's skyline. The German
name is Frankfurt am Main but many people love to refer to this city by
calling it 'Mainhattan'.
Wind mill
A wind mill at the
Hessenpark, the open air museum of the State of Hesse in Germany.
Český Šternberk Castle
The castle, placed in the valley of the Sázava River in Bohemia, was founded in the year 1241 by
Zdeslav Sternberg and it is still in the ownership of the
family of Sternberg.
Moorish kiosk
During a walk through the
Linderhof Palace Park I discovered this Moorish kiosk, which was originally
build as the Prussian contribution to the World Exhibition 1867 in
Paris.

Schloss
Bellevue
Schloss Bellevue was built in 1786 for Prince Ferdinand of
Prussia. It was designed by architect Philipp Daniel Boumann
and the first Neoclassical building in Germany.
Theseus Temple
This 'Greek' temple is placed in the 'Volksgarten' of Vienna and was
built by Peter von Nobile in the years 1819 to 1823.
Equestrian statue of Archduke
Charles of Austria
The statue is placed at the Heldenplatz in Vienna. The most interesting fact
is the pose of the horse.
Trautson Palace
One of the not so famous palaces of Vienna, which was build in the year 1712
in baroque style.
Schwarzenberg Palace
This Palace in Vienna was constructed by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt and
has a richly-decorated marble gallery inside.
Welfen Palace
This Palace in Hannover was originally build for the Royal family of
Hannover but turned later into an university.
Easter Fountain
On my way to the car museum of Wolfegg (Germany) I came across
this fountain which was decorated with a lot of coloured eggs.
Linderhof Palace
This palace in the region Upper Bavaria was build by king Ludwig II and is
filled with French furniture and artworks.
Museum of Ethnology
The Museum of Ethnology is placed in one wing of the New Imperial Palace of
Vienna.
Riegersburg Castle
One of the most important fortresses in
the Austrian province Styria whose numerous gates reminds me
of
Hochosterwitz Castle.
Olive grove
Before I have visited a modern mill for olives in Caresana,
I walked along some olive trees and enjoyed the different
colours.
Museum of Modern Art in Vienna,
Austria
This terrible accident with two crashed
houses was actually an installation created by the
Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, which I saw during a visit in
the Museumsquartier (MQ) of Vienna.
Imperial Castle
in Linz, Austria
The castle was residence of emperor
Friedrich III for a few years in 15th century. Today it houses the state museum of the province
Upper Austria.
