Hardegg
Another frontier fortress with a memorial to the unlucky Maximilian of Mexico which
was the brother of the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph. He was sent to Mexico as an emperor
and come back as died man after a short time.

A castle from the 12th century. I was never destroyed in its history, so you can see a
fortress in all its details: drawbridge, court, furniture and weapons.

Guttenbrunn
A Baroque castle with a rococo staircase. Inside there is a Baroque museum.
Schloss Hoyos
A castle from the 17th century which was build by the Spanish family Hoyos. An
ancestor of this family was king of the Goten.
Burg Laa
A castle from the 15th century. Today there is a museum about brewery inside.
Schloss Ludwigstorff
A castle from the 17th century. Today there is an interesting museum about Africa
inside.
Schloss Mayerling
Today this castle is a convent. It got famous for the suicide of Arch Duke Rudolf and
Baronesse Mary Vetsera in the year 1889. Rudolf was the son and successor to the throne of
emperor Franz Josef I. This event has influenced the life in Austria in a certain grade.
People are still wonder if it was suicide or murder. Some years ago someone had stolen the
body of Baronesse Mary Vetsera but was captured by the police.
Schloss Prugg
A castle from the 13th century. Today you will experience the castle in a mix of
baroque and Tudor style.
